I installed my Polk Audio SR6500 components a few months ago. Here is a vid of them playing with my SR subs. BTW, I never abuse my speakers like this... I'm an SQ guy. This video is pretty much just for demonstration purposes :P Feel free to rate and comment.

I know the SR6500's ...

I know the SR6500's are no longer available (huge bummer). Supply them with a high quality type A/B amp with 150RMS to EACH channel (25W over spec). Then, cross them over to the subs at no less than 160Hz -12dB/oct. 6.5" drivers should never see anything below that frequency. Not only does it muddle the mids? but it wastes valuable amplifier power! My two bits. You will get natural sounding clarity beyond belief.

I installed the same speakers in my 97 honda civic in the door like you would any other speaker. Just cut the plastic that would normally be behind it. Looks really good. Polk is the way to go, bro. And if you have the newer models they are not oversized, they're actually smaller than comparable speakers because they use a different type of magnet that is smaller and lighter. Look at some CDT's or MB quarts that take the same power and put? out the same sound. They're massive.

The only sad part about these demos, is? that is a person does not have good speakers to listen to the demo then they cannot appreciate the quality of such amazing speakers. I have the SR subwoofer. Great quality. Hope to get the SR fronts as well.

Polk County Tennessee Rockslide Nearly Kills Road Crew

Another major rock slide, the second one, has closed highway 64 in Polk county for at least 3 weeks. It came as crews were trying to move debris from the first slide, and only moments after a state geologist gave them a warning to clear the area.

There was a guy killed on Hwy 70, close to pegram? tn. Just out side of nashville. A rock , about the size of the one in this video, fell on top of his pickup. It stopped and crushed his truck, killing him instantly. I think it was in the late 70's or early 80's. The Overhangs on Hwy 70, need to be blasted. I wish TDOT would do something about it. Every year at least 3 or 4 cars are totalled along that stretch of HWY.

I've known a lot of people who were killed on that road. It scares the hell out of me. About 10 or 15 years ago, a rock the same size as that boulder landed a car's length ahead of me. My sister was up there, in her pickup, and I was sure she was under it. But she wasn't, after we got around and finally got back home, she was home, clueless about the rock slide, said she wondered where we went to, oh well. Those narrow curves, don't get me started. Wrong? place and wrong time when a truck comes..

My 10" 100w (peak) subwoofer playing Trigger Happy by Bass 4 Life Subwoofer volume is at 50%. Receiver is a Sony 5.1 STR-DE475. Volume is at 11/30, using S/PDIF on my X-Fi Titanium sound card. Bass is turned off on all my speakers except the subwoofer. Sorry for the quality, my camera only does well when there is a lot of light present.

best way to do this would be to get a cheap 5.1 receiver or even a 2 channel receiver. You can pick up a decent one off ebay for like $150 used, and it'll have your sub out (LFE) port which you can convert to RCA for the sub, then everything else just hooks in. Or a 2 channel you would just plug into your speaker inputs on the sub, then output to your nice speakers. As of now, you can only plug in your rca from your xbox to? your sub and hear boomy muffled sounds lol

Haha, sorry man for the terrible explanation of my question/current setup, but here's the basic jist of what i was trying to get across. I have yet to actually buy the sub but this one is pretty intriguing for the price. My question was basically this, how would I configure the sub you have there to work with two other stereo system? speakers? To date, I have no receiver box and my current setup is based upon a RCA jack going from my stereo to my TV. Any chance i could fit the sub in?

so you have an input and output, plus an rca? I'm going? to assume it's the same sub as mine. are you hooked up via rca to your subwoofer? If so, then you can't output to your nice speakers. if you are hooked up to your 2 inputs then you can output with your 2 outputs. hope this helps

Lol this thing in your car?! :S Don't abuse it!!!! Its not meant for SPL loud applications. And putting it in your car is pretty dangerous because I assume your running stock electrical, and odds are it won't be? able to fully power the amp (when you turn it up the current it is demanding from the battery the alternator cant keep up with) and then since the battery cannot provide enough power you get voltage drops, amp demands power it doesn't get, then amp clips, blows sub and amp!

oops sorry meant thumbs upp... but thanks for the usefull info . I completely forgot about flaring the port. I just dont need this sub to be loud though haha. Its stays below 1/4 vol. while gaming and listening to music. I used to like the bass really loud, but thats what my car is for haha, Im pushing 2 12" and a true 460 watts continuous and 1000 watt peak, flexes my trunk :). I got a good i got a? good deal for 99.00 for this sub on black friday. Thanks for the info.

Thats called port, aka high turbulence in the port. A solution would be to flare the other end. I beleive the diameter of the port is 3", but measure it for exact fit. On the end which you took off the metal grille, put a port flare on it,? you can buy at places like partsexpress. Make sure you have the right port diamater so it slips on and stays on tight. Even stick a little glue on it too. Flaring helps direct the air into the port smoothly to keep it from creating turbulence.

The amp pulls 2 ohms, and alot of amps cant run 2 ohm stable. I tried? it on one that wasnt and it overheated, so thats probably what happened.

Wasted subs on that setup. I put some unbroken in ones in my car to test only running 500w rms and it shook shit like crazy. If you have it setup right your screwdriver by ur polks would be moving. Then again I have? a 500 watt stereo which could be why

nice speakers man, the only thing i would change is the head unit, i don't really rely on sony's for? stereos, get yourself etther a pioneer or alpine, even the base models are really good from either brand, especially alpine the cleanest sound you'll ever hear man, but nice subs, i also like polk audios

Couple of things, why are you using the aux in and streaming music from your phone? Compressed files sound like shit especially for bass, you lose low bass response and it becomes muddy. If you do use mp3s at least use usb input. The DAC in your? phone surely is horrible as it is meant for headphones. What kind of amp do you have running your full range speakers? Also my personal preference with the sub is to cross it over around 63-70Hz and run the front dbs 63 Hz and higher.
